services:
Every person is unique, and I believe that it is vitally important to get to know you beyond your symptoms and treatment history. There are different session lengths offered based on the complexity of the case and the type of treatment indicated.
I offer a 10 min consultation to help decide if we are a good fit. If so, we will schedule a psychiatric diagnostic exam after the call.
This initial appointment will be a psychiatric diagnostic exam which is meant to determine whether an ongoing treatment relationship fits your needs. Initial appointments are at least 60 minutes long to allow for a comprehensive history, review of past medications, and discussion of treatment options and recommendations. This is necessary even for patients who have previously been seen by a psychiatrist, as this is our chance to get to know one another and see if the practice will be a good fit. We will explore all aspects of your health and well-being and discuss your health and life goals
At your initial evaluation, we will review a lot of questions about your medical and psychiatric history, and why you are seeking an evaluation. The goal is to get to know you as an individual and to find out what I can do to help. Prior to your initial appointment, I will send you information on completing the New Patient Intake Form through a secure electronic platform, as well as other related forms to sign. Prior to the first appointment I spend a significant amount of time reviewing the materials you have sent us. It is important that you complete all paperwork prior to your first appointment, so that I can help you best.
Usually, at the end of the initial evaluation I can provide you with a full assessment as well as any recommendations for treatment. Where appropriate I will help coordinate with your therapist or primary care doctor. For some complex cases, an additional follow up appointment may be necessary before I can provide recommendations.
Comprehensive follow ups are recommended if you have a complicated history, we have performed additional testing, or you want to have a family conference to discuss diagnosis and treatment strategy. They allow for us to review response to initial medications, clarify any diagnostic concerns, and review results from tests or discussions with your other healthcare providers.
Medication Management appointments are used to track your response to treatment. These are best for patients who are seeking medication management only, or who are also working with an outside therapist. These can be used to keep track of response to changes in medication, health coaching, monitoring of progress, to review test results, and for general support. The recommended frequency of follow up appointments varies based on specific needs, and can range from weekly to once every 3 months.
These visits are optimized for those interested in weekly psychotherapy in addition to medication management.
I offer psychiatric evaluations for surgical clearance (spinal cord stimulators, bariatric and gender reassignment, etc.) These evaluations are not for establishing ongoing care. For basic cases your fee will include a 60 minute appointment, chart review, and follow up with your referring doctor as needed. The hourly fee includes any additional collateral interviews, testing, record review, telephone calls, letters, and reports. Rates are billed in quarter-hour increments for all time devoted to the case. I will always provide you with a time estimate for you to approve prior to completing any work we have not discussed previously.
